Dermatology Does Downtown After 15 years in practice, one local dermatologist decided to make her services more accessible to the Downtown crowd. Discover how she caters to women who live and work Downtown. ![]() So many New Year's resolutions fail because they're unattainable or are too far out of our normal schedule for us to really commit to them. Well, if your resolution this year is to get your skincare under control or to give yourself a makeover with some cosmetic procedures, you're in luck.
Dr. Lana Long, a board-certified dermatologist, recently opened Cincinnati Dermatology and Laser Downtown in the PNC Bank Building at Fourth and Vine streets. Catering to professional women, Long's practice works to make your appointments easily accessible in both time and location.
"In order to be accessible, I decided to start my hours early, so I start seeing patients at 7:30 [a.m.], and then I work through lunchtime. So I was hoping that people could come in and see me before work or through their lunchtime hour," Long says.
The length of an appointment can range in time depending on your dermatologic situation, so more simple situations might only take five or 10 minutes while a complete skin exam might take 15 to 20 minutes. "The patient may have a few things they want me to look at or skin tags removed, and those things take a little bit longer," Long says. "Certainly, I would say easily within an hour you could get in and get out of here for most dermatologic concerns."
Some cosmetic procedures like botox and laser hair removal also can be a quick in-and-out procedure without any downtime, but other procedures can require a little recovery time. Most of Long's patients generally prefer to take off a little early Friday for these procedures so that they can have the weekend to heal, so Long extends her normal 3 p.m. closing time to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
As Long's practice is new to Downtown, she currently accepting new patients, and the wait time is only about a week to get in to see her. But she definitely is not new to the dermatologic field. Long comes to Downtown after 15 years of practice in Florence. She is the vice president of the Ohio Society for Dermatologic Surgery and served as the secretary/treasurer for the Cincinnati Dermatological Society from 2008 to 2010.
